Carbon Neutral Certification
Businesses · Buildings · Precincts · Government-backed Standard
Climate Active is Australia's government-backed carbon neutral certification program. It provides a rigorous, independently verified standard for organisations and buildings to measure, reduce and offset their greenhouse gas emissions. Ark Resources supports clients through the full certification journey, from initial emissions scoping through to certified submission and ongoing annual renewal.
We work with businesses, building owners and developers across Australia to prepare GHG emissions inventories, identify practical reduction opportunities, source high-integrity carbon offsets, and compile the documentation required for Climate Active verification. Our team brings technical depth across both built environment and corporate emissions frameworks.
Ark Resources is itself a Climate Active certified organisation. We have measured and offset our own operational emissions, invested in reduction initiatives, and maintained certification through annual renewal. This first-hand experience informs every client engagement and means we understand the process from the inside.
Climate Active is administered by the Australian Government and sets the standard for carbon neutral certification in Australia. Certified organisations and buildings undergo independent verification and earn the right to use the Climate Active carbon neutral trademark.

We Practice What We Preach
Ark Resources is Climate Active Carbon Neutral Certified
We have certified our own organisation through the Climate Active program. We acknowledge our operational impact on the environment and have implemented genuine emissions reductions, invested in offset projects and incorporated the latest technologies to achieve and maintain our carbon neutral status year on year.
Climate Active is Australia's official carbon neutral certification standard, administered by the federal government. Certification signals genuine commitment and provides credible, independently verified recognition of your carbon neutral status.
Certified organisations can display the Climate Active carbon neutral trademark on products, communications and buildings. This provides a trusted, visible signal to clients, tenants, investors and the broader community.
The certification framework requires you to measure, reduce and offset your emissions annually, creating a structured pathway toward long-term net zero. It also helps identify where in your operations the greatest reduction opportunities exist.
Government tenants, institutional investors and sustainability-conscious occupants increasingly require or prefer certified carbon neutral buildings and suppliers. Certification strengthens your position in tender processes and leasing negotiations.
Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions inventories for businesses, buildings and precincts, aligned to the Climate Active Carbon Neutral Standard methodology and the GHG Protocol. We compile and verify all data sources required for certification submission.
Practical reduction roadmaps identifying priority actions across energy, transport, supply chain and waste. We help clients implement genuine reductions before offsetting, in line with Climate Active's emphasis on reduction over offset reliance.
Guidance on sourcing high-integrity offsets eligible under the Climate Active standard, including Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) and international units. We assess offset quality, co-benefits and alignment with your values and reporting obligations.
End-to-end preparation of the Climate Active public disclosure statement, data verification documentation, and certification application. We coordinate with the independent auditor and the Climate Active program to manage the submission process on your behalf.
Climate Active is Australia's government-backed carbon neutral certification program, administered by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. It provides a rigorous, independently verified standard for organisations and buildings to measure, reduce and offset their greenhouse gas emissions and achieve recognised carbon neutral status. Certification gives businesses access to the Climate Active trademark and positions them as leaders in Australia's net zero transition.
Climate Active certification is available to businesses, buildings, precincts, products, services and events. Any Australian organisation or building owner can pursue certification regardless of size or sector. Ark Resources specialises in certification for businesses and built environment projects including commercial buildings, residential developments and mixed-use precincts.
The process involves four stages: preparing a GHG emissions inventory covering Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions; identifying and implementing emission reduction measures; procuring eligible carbon offsets to neutralise residual emissions; and submitting documentation for independent verification and certification by the Climate Active program. Ark Resources supports clients through each stage.
The timeline depends on the complexity of your operations and the availability of emissions data. For most businesses, the process from initial engagement to certified submission takes three to six months. Buildings and precincts may take longer due to the scope of data collection required. Ark Resources can provide a clear timeline at project briefing.
